Monument to Angelo Vassallo , Controcorrente (against the tide)<\/h1>\n

Monumental marble artwork<\/em><\/p>\n

The work was begun at the behest of the Municipal Administration of Calimera (Puglia),\u00a0this allows the artist to start a historical study<\/strong> of the documentation\u00a0referring to the character Angelo Vassallo<\/strong>, the \"Mayor\u00a0Fisherman\"<\/em><\/strong> as well as through careful photographic research, also\u00a0with an introspective research, which is based on the story of the family, the people who knew him, the documents treated\u00a0in cinema and theatre.<\/p>\n

The study phase has engaged the artist for some time, and he outlines\u00a0a careful morphological<\/strong> analysis<\/strong> based on a psychological\u00a0and biographical<\/strong> evaluation that has much attention is required, given the importance of the topic dealt with\u00a0and the dramatic nature of the events.<\/p>\n

The sculptor observes the documents starting from the first important phases\u00a0of life up to the most tragic and discussed events, the already produced artistic documents are examined which allow the vicissitudes\u00a0of this character to be reconstructed, which gradually becomes a symbol of legality.<\/p>\n

The sculpture symbolically embodies the tenacity of simple and constant actions that represent an insurmountable force and ennoble the spirit and action aimed at justice and sacrifice.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Angelo Vassallo a simple man who becomes a symbol, a mayor\u00a0weigher who becomes the maximum expression of what is\u00a0the common good.<\/p>\n

The entire creative phase took place in the Scultore's laboratory on Lake Como<\/strong>, the work could only be made of marble<\/strong>, a material \u00a0so dear to the artist and for which just eighteen years old, he leaves\u00a0his beloved Calimera to experiment and experiment with\u00a0Carrara and the Apuan Alps.<\/p>\n

With this work, a piece of the Apuan Alps returns to the\u00a0birthplace of the sculptor Abele Vadacca, to symbolize the never-extinct love\u00a0for his native land, and to represent an indelible mark\u00a0that echoes towards future generations on what Angelo Vassallo\u00a0has given of himself.<\/p>\n

The selected marble is an Apuan white. The starting block\u00a0from which the best part weighing more than 10 tons was selected.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n
